Asia

Explore Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh and discover why this beautiful city was once considered the “Pearl of the Orient”.  Discover the world-famous landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Angkor Wat, the “City of Temples” built to replicate the heavens on earth and be ‘wowed’ by the fantastic Phare Circus during an incredible hour of beautifully choreographed theater, music, dance, acrobatic, athleticism, juggling and contortion.

Phnom Penh

Explore the highlights of the city by cyclo, a pedal-powered rickshaw. Begin at the glittering Royal Palace, which combines traditional Khmer and Thai architectural styles and also display some European features. Continue to the National Museum of Khmer Art and Archaeology, also known as ‘Musee des Beaux-Arts’, to discover a vast collection of Khmer art, including sculptural, ceramic, bronze and ethnographic objects. Visit Wat Phnom, one of the city’s most important religious sites, before bidding farewell to your cyclo driver. In the afternoon, discover the secrets of Cambodia’s recent past, visiting sites connected with the Khmer Rouge. Tuol Sleng Museum was originally a local high school, but was taken over in 1975 by the Khmer Rouge and converted into ‘Security Prison 21’ (S-21). Continue to the ‘Killing Fields’, where the mass graves left behind by the Khmer Rouge tell the story of the disturbing events that took place here. Stop by to visit a local market where your spirits are lifted by the sight of local Cambodians who continue to persevere, despite the nation’s troubling history

Siem Reap & Ankor Wat

Rise early to view the dramatic sunrise at Angkor Wat. Your guide leads you to an ideal viewpoint to see the magical moment when the first rays of the morning sun kiss the beautiful temple. Then enjoy an atmospheric champagne breakfast in a scenic spot near West Baray, a vast man-made reservoir built during the reign of King Suryavarman I in the 11th century. Your private breakfast is set in local Khmer style with a low table and comfortable cushions. Sip a glass of champagne with a delicious American or continental style breakfast, complete with free-flow soft drinks, fruit juices and local beer. Visit Wat Damnak, the largest pagoda in Siem Reap. Meet the resident monks and experience a traditional blessing ceremony, where you offer food and items of necessity and receive a blessing in return. Then explore the mysterious ruins of the ancient Khmer kingdom, starting with Ta Prohm, a temple overgrown by strangler figs and kapok trees. Then head into the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom, where you come faceto-face with the Bayon, an imposing 12th century structure commissioned by one the empire’s most revered rulers, King Jayavarman VII. Continue to Baphuon, a sanctuary dedicated to Brahmanism, and Phimeanakas Temple, a place of worship for kings. Then visit the Terrace of the Elephants, an impressive two-and-a-halfmeter tall wall used as a ceremonial stage, and the Terrace of the Leper King with its amazingly well-detailed bas reliefs. End the day with a traditional gondola ride along the moat of the ancient city at sunset. Sip a glass of wine or two while enjoying canapés and relaxing in the picturesque surroundings, with free-flow local beer, red and white house wine, chilled juices, soft drinks and canapés. You may also make a stop and walk to Prasat Chrung temple for magical views at twilight
